The small Edwardian resort of Seaview did not establish itself as a village until the 1800’s, there were just a few fisherman huts and a Saltern Buildings where salt pan workers were housed. By 1850 the center of Seaview was well established and then was followed by a quick expansion where it became a thriving seaside resort by 1860. Seaview has become a well sought after holiday home destination where now days you’ll find the Old Fort Pub sitting on the seafront which is popular with both residents and visitors. At low tide Priory Bay offers white sands and perfect swimming conditions, or if you prefer being on the water the village is home to Sea View Yacht Club which hosts the Seaview Regatta.

Together with Seaview, Nettlestone forms the civil parish of Nettlestone and Seaview. Listed in the Domesday Book, Nettlestone was established in 1086 but formerly known as ‘Hoteleston’ until the 14th century when its original meaning was no longer understood and took on its new, modern form of the name. The land of Nettlestone was less rich and expanded down to the sea, the houses in the area were associated with farming. The beautiful Priory Bay Hotel which is situated between Nettlestone and St. Helens is rich in history dating back thousands of years; originally the site of a medieval monastery it is now a Grade II listed building. A common story states that the Priory Hotel is haunted by the ghost of a 14 year old who died within the building.
